Käyttötarkoitus

Duodecimin Päätöksentuki (EBMEDS^®) on lääketieteellisen päätöksenteon tukijärjestelmä, joka analysoi yksilön terveyteen ja sairauksiin liittyviä rakenteisia potilastietoja. Se yhdistää potilastiedot useista eri lähteistä peräisin olevaan lääketieteelliseen tietämykseen ja käytäntöihin. Päätöksentuen tarkoituksena on parantaa hoidon laatua ja hoitosuositusten mukaisuutta, ehkäistä hoitovirheitä, parantaa potilasturvallisuutta ja säästää käyttäjän aikaa.

Päätöksentuki on suunniteltu hyödynnettäväksi kaikenlaisille potilaille iästä, sukupuolesta, sairauksista tai muista ominaisuuksista riippumatta. Päätöksentuen käyttäjiä ovat terveydenhuollon ammattilaiset.

Vastuunrajoitus

Päätöksentuki hyödyntää uusinta ja parasta saatavilla olevaa lääketieteellistä tietoa, hoitosuosituksia ja näytönastekatsauksia. Päätöksentukijärjestelmän sisältöä kehitetään Kustannus Oy Duodecimin toimituksessa suurella huolellisuudella ja hyödyntäen parhaita toimituksellisia tapoja.

Päätöksentuki saattaa näyttää myös aiheettomia muistutteita, mm. koska se on riippuvainen vastaanottamiensa rakenteisten potilastietojen laadusta. Hoitoon liittyvät päätökset ja vastuu niistä kuuluvat poikkeuksetta vastaavalle lääkärille tai muulle potilasvastuussa olevalle terveydenhuollon ammattilaiselle. Päätöksentuki on yksi hoitoon liittyvän tiedon lähde eikä se korvaa lääkärin tai muun terveydenhuollon ammattihenkilön ammattitaitoa.

Intended Use

EBMEDS^® is a medical decision support system which analyses structural data related to individuals’ health and sicknesses. EBMEDS combines general medical knowledge from multiple sources and convention-based rules with structural data about individual patients.

EBMEDS is designed to provide decision support, such as treatment recommendations or diagnostic help, for health care professionals. EBMEDS is typically integrated into other health IT-systems, that provide the required structural source data. EBMEDS is designed to be always available to the end user and to provide input automatically or on demand (as requested by user). EBMEDS is designed to be used for all kinds of patients, regardless of age, gender, medical conditions or other attributes.

Limitation of Liability

The content of the EBMEDS clinical decision support system is developed by employing the best editorial practices and careful attention to detail. The aim is to offer users medical information which is up-to-date and relevant to the present context of treatment. However, ultimate responsibility for all decisions affecting the medical care of the patient rests with the health care professionals in charge of the treatment. The EBMEDS decision support system does not impose treatment decisions or supersede proper medical judgement by a health care professional; it is merely a source of information for them as they perform their work. EBMEDS user must be aware that EBMEDS feedback may be inaccurate or misleading e.g. due to inconsistencies in the received structural clinical data.
